Feb 14 & 15

The next two days are PACKED with unique activities and opportunities for our students!

Thursday, February 14th
  • Mr. Shank will be coming to give students their option sheets for High School.  These will be due back by Monday, February 25th.  If you have questions, please visit our High School FAQ page. If your child is not going to be attending Bradford District High School, please inform us in writing so that we can let the office know.
  • After Mr. Shank's visit, we have our final Literature Circle activity... drama presentations will be in the morning and students will have a chance to catch a glimpse of what the other novels were about (another opportunity that students had to do this was last week when students shared their posters about their novels - photos can be seen on the Literature Circle page).
  • At 2:00 PM in our library, we welcome the International Fund for Animal Welfare's Seal Programme Director, Sheryl Fink, will be speaking to our Grade 8 students about the Canadian Seal Hunt.  Parents and guardians are welcome to join us for the afternoon.
Friday, February 15th
  • Anti-Bullying Day is here!  We will spend the day promoting positive interactions among students, staff, and others in our community. We start the day off with a keynote address by Spencer West. Spencer lost his legs as a small child, and made it his goal in life to redefine possible, with his most recent accomplishment being to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro. Click here to see a video of Spencer on The Hour with George Stromboulopoulos. Items will be available for purchase after Spencer's presentation:
    • Standing Tall (book) - $20
    • DVD - $10
    • bracelets to support the Free the Children water initiative - $10
    • t-shirts and other items ranging in price from $25 and up
  • Other links to articles and videos about Spencer West:
  • Throughout the day, our students will be taking on leadership roles including helping teachers run activities for students from Grades 1-6, leading the groups to their activities, and helping our coordinators with various jobs.
  • At the end of the day, we will have our final activities for the day - items to be announced!
  • Report cards come home on Friday - we strongly encourage you to wait until you've seen your child's report card before filling out the option sheets provided by Bradford District High School, as this will help guide any decision making.
Thanks for reading!  Remember, Monday is Family Day Holiday - have a terrific weekend!
Miss Skelton :)
