Algebra Test

Hi everyone,

Just a reminder that students will be having an Algebra test in Math tomorrow. The focus will be on simplifying expressions and on using the distributive property.
For those who are unfamiliar with the distributive property, here's an example:
   2(3m + 7)
= 6m + 14

I've been onto Gizmos to try to find distributive property practice, but I wasn't able to find any activities that suited what we needed.  I did add an activity that helps you to "translate" from words to algebraic expressions.  If you're interested in looking at it, please click on the Gizmos link.

I did find a few sites that have exactly the type of practice I was looking for.  Click on the following links to find online practice simulations of how to apply the distributive property:
http://ca.ixl.com/math/grade-7/distributive-property
http://www.hstutorials.net/dialup/distributiveProp.htm
http://studyjams.scholastic.com/studyjams/jams/math/multiplication-division/distrib-property.htm
http://www.algebrahelp.com/worksheets/view/simplifying/distribution.quiz
(don't worry about the examples with exponents - I don't think you've covered those yet)

Hope these help!  Also, don't forget about our Math Links pages - there may be something on there that could help, too!
See you tomorrow,
Miss Skelton
