In Language, we've recently been focusing on self-esteem, bullying, and the notion that as hard as things may seem now, they will get better. Amanda Todd's name and story has come up in our discussions. I came across an article in the Toronto Star that I found to be an interesting tie-in. The article is an interview with a Kids Help Phone counselor about bullying, cyber-bullying, and what parents AND kids can do if kids are being bullied. It's a really good article with some great (and realistic) advice. Please have a look, if you're interested in talking with your child about the tragedy of Amanda Todd's suicide.
