Busy Week!

Hi everyone,

What a busy week!  We have all kinds of interesting things coming up... here they are!

Wednesday - Bradford District High School visit - we leave Fieldcrest at 11 and return at 2:30, so students must remember that they can buy lunch at the cafeteria, however may NOT leave the property for our regular lunch break.

Thursday - our class is hosting the Intermediate Character Education Assembly at 9:55.  Please join us in the gym if you are able to make it!

Friday - Remembrance Day assembly - our assembly will begin shortly after attendance is taken (around 9:15).  All visitors are welcome to join us.  Some of our classes will be in the gym, others will be in the library to view the assembly remotely (our school population is so large that we won't all fit in the gymnasium!).

Also on Friday, our progress reports come home.  I would like to clarify what the progressing statements mean:
Progressing Very Well - this means that the student is achieving above the provincial standard and is typically achieving in the high level 3 to level 4 range.  If the "progressing very well" trend continues, the student should expect to see percentage marks above 75% on their term one report card.
Progressing Well - this means that the student is approaching the provincial standard and is typically achieving in the level 2 and low level 3 range. If the "progressing well" trend continues, the student should expect to see percentage marks in the 60-75% range on their term one report card.
Progressing with Difficulty - this means that the student is struggling to achieve the provincial standard.  For students who demonstrate this trend, we see it as an opportunity to look for ways to support their achievement in addition to the regular classroom. Support at home might include reviewing daily notes, reading with the student, and going to some of our online links to supplement the learning from the school day. If the "progressing with difficulty" trend continues, the student can expect to see marks from below 60% on their term one report card.

We will be sending home notices for parents to sign up for parent-teacher conferences in the next couple of days.  Conferences will be ten minutes long. We hope to accommodate all requests, however the sign up will be on a first-come-first-serve basis.  Please return forms promptly so that we can confirm times.  Thanks for your cooperation with this!

Have a great night,
Miss Skelton :)
